Your questions, answered
- Am I eligible for ECO4?
- You are likely eligible if someone in your household receives a qualifying benefit such as Universal Credit, Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit), Income Support, income-based JSA, income-related ESA, Housing Benefit or Tax Credits, and your home has a low energy rating. The checker asks exactly these questions.
- Does the checker cost anything or commit me to anything?
- No. You see your result without giving any contact details. You only enter your name, email and phone if you want installer quotes, and even then you are under no obligation to accept any of them.
- Why do you ask about benefits and income?
- Because they decide the route. Benefits open ECO4, which can fully fund the work. Income under £36,000 opens the Warm Homes: Local Grant through your council. Neither affects the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, which has no income test.
- What happens to my answers?
- Nothing until you submit the enquiry form with the consent box ticked. Then we share your answers and contact details with up to 3 certified installers so they can quote accurately. We log the exact consent wording you saw, in line with UK GDPR.
- I'm in Scotland. Why won't you take my details?
- We have no installer network in Scotland yet, so collecting your details would be selling you something we cannot deliver. Home Energy Scotland offers grants of up to £7,500 (£9,000 rural) plus interest-free loans, and we point you straight there.
